This beautiful hand made pure duchess silk satin wedding dress is stunning in its simplicity. As a specifically designed gown by Caroline Castigliano at her Guildford premises you can rest assured there will never be another exactly like it. If you can't stand merangues and prefer simple, understated elegance, then you will love the empire styled body, straight lines and fitted three quarter sleeves. The detachable train is quite magnificent - wear it for the main event and then simply take it off to reinvent your dress as an amazing evening gown, revealing a simple slit at the back, to just below the knee. For a chilly day it also comes with a gorgeous matching stole (also designed to order by Wonderful Wraps, and unworn), lined in off-white velvet. To complete the picture there's a little tiara, threaded with tiny crystals and seed pearls. With the original price tag adding up to just under £2,500 it really is an amazing bargain.
The body of the dress and the under layer of the train are in an off-white duchess silk satin, whereas the bodice, sleeves and top side of the train are what I would describe as a slightly warmer oyster shade, which is subtle and flattering to all complexions. The dress secures at the back with a number of tiny silk covered buttons concealing the zip. The bodice is fitted from which the rest of the gown falls simply, it isn't over-structured so you won't feel like you're wearing a straight-jacket.
You will need to be very slender to fit into this gorgeous gown - no more than a UK size 8. The approximate dimensions of the dress are, in inches, 32 bust (A or B cup), 26 waist, 34 hips. I am around 5 feet 6 inches tall and wore 3 inch heels on the day.
Worn once, for just a few very important hours, the gown has been specialist cleaned (at great expense) and is absolutely pristine - in fact it's as new. Much as I would love to keep such an exquisite item for posterity, I cannot justify that kind of luxury, and it would be wonderful to see somebody very special enjoying this beautiful dress.
